In September 2007, Sharp Electronics Corporation, in collaboration with Panasonic Corporation of North America and Toshiba America Consumer Products, LLC, established the Electronic Manufacturers Recycling Management Company (MRM). The program, initially focused on recycling audio-visual products like TVs, has since expanded nationwide with approximately 1,800 collection points. MRM also hosts special events and engages in voluntary activities to promote the recycling of consumer electronics, fully complying with all state laws and regulations.
MRM offers a free mail-back recycling program for consumers. Through this service, MRM partners with UPS to provide a convenient shipping process. On the MRM website, consumers can easily find a collection point near them using an embedded Google map. If they prefer to mail their items, they can select the mail-back option to receive a pre-paid UPS shipping label. After registering their product information and location, consumers can print the shipping label, package their item, and drop it off at any UPS location for free (such as a UPS store or a workplace with UPS pickup). For a small fee, home pickup can also be arranged.
